Benidorm is one of the main tourist destinations in Costa Blanca, it has excellent beaches, as well as an assortment of accommodation, restaurants, and leisure activities offered. Its historic quarter, which sits on a cape, is in great contrast with the wide avenues lined with buildings, shops, and terraces, all along the coastline.
The beaches are one of Benidorm's biggest attractions. A long coastline with sandy beaches, and secluded coves where one can enjoy a refreshing swim, as well as engage in water sports, like scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing, and sailing.
Levante beach is one of the most beautiful in the city it has an urban location, easy access to many services, and two kilometres of fine sands. These fine sands are bordered by a busy promenade, filled with terraces and restaurants, which can be quite lively at night.
Between the two most famous beaches of Benidorm, the Mal Pas cove, a tranquil cove of fine sands is found which can be great for a picnic and is also close to the harbour.
Benidorm's historic centre is located on an outcrop between its two main beaches, Levante and Poniente. The peaks of the Canfali hills lead to the Balcony of the Mediterranean, a splendid viewpoint that presents a gorgeous panoramic view of the sea.
Boat excursions to the little island of Benidorm (located in middle of the inlet) depart from the harbour. Legend has it that the island is a piece of rock from nearby Mount Campana that brave Roland severed with his sword during the expeditions of Charlemagne. The varied seabed makes it a scuba-diving paradise.
